On the edge of the threshold: performance at Kasko Basel

Performance

The performance series “On the edge of the threshold” explores the concept of the inbetween and its ephemerality through the mythological story of Narasimha Avatar: a liminal being in-between a human and an animal. I have attempted to interlace the story of Narasimha with moments and my experiences where I am confronted and intrigued by this concept, my present situation and the transient rituals that I grew up performing.

The threshold is the core essence and foundation of the story. Can the idea of in-between ever have closure? Is the notion of the in-between a fabrication of our imagination? Or is it a deliberation to make sense of an otherwise complex and incomprehensible reality? Perhaps our thresholds, myths, mythologies and the presumed individual perceptions are byproducts of this ambiguity. I have a machine in my heart.  Am I completely human or in between a human and a machine? I am constantly struggling in-between life and deaths but aren’t we all?
